Differently Enabled Logo Orange

We are thrilled to be collaborating with LOVE HERO, a London based, planet conscious brand that celebrates ordinary people living extraordinary lives.

“We celebrate life’s vibrancy and bright spirit while embedding the ideology of sustainability as a norm in design, sourcing and manufacturing,” LOVE HERO founder and creative director Josh Scacheri explained to me when we met in October of 2021.

We were both attending the CreOSphere textile printing conference in Lake Como, Italy. In fact, we shared a ride from the airport to the gorgeous Villa Erba with Scott Walton, Kornit Digital UK’s head of retail transformation and strategic projects.

Kornit Digital was the conference’s sponsor. At Differently Enabled, we use their printers and technology to digitally print your custom apparel. Digitally printing textiles uses a lot less water than traditionally printed fabrics and allows us to print and manufacture on demand in England. We therefore have no surplus inventory and a smaller carbon footprint getting your clothes to you.

“After 15 years in this industry I began to reminisce about the relationship people had with clothing in the past,” Josh said. “I am creating collections that make people feel special, incite an emotional connection with clothing again, and are purchased with the intention of being worn for life.”

Differently Enabled and LOVE HERO’s values could not be more aligned.

We offer the LOVE HERO iconic Kaftan in three lengths that you customise by selecting from a variety of prints. Depending on the print you chose, 10% of the proceeds benefit one of three charities.

Josh and I met up again during the Outlyer Entertainment launch at the Cannes Film Festival in May of this year.

Emmanuel Kelly

The first-ever differently abled pop star, Emmanuel Kelly is a singer, producer and businessman with a vision and passion to change global perceptions through a creative and collaborative approach to life.

I have never met anyone more passionate, enthusiastic, determined, and charming than Emmanuel. His energy is infectious and his work is tireless.

We met over Zoom in early April and by the end of May I was on my way to Cannes for the launch of Outlyer Entertainment, a multi-platform company that embraces the talents and stories of uniquely-abled individuals. An Outlyer is a person or thing differing from all other members of a particular group or set. Emmanuel has quickly made me realise that “I am an Outlyer!”

Driving Inclusion, creating opportunities, and building communities, Emmanuel campaigns to create an even playing field for the differently abled in the entertainment businesses (writers, directors, filmmakers, actors, singers…the list is exhaustive).

It was Emmanuel, while we were still in Cannes, who introduced me to Laura Hameed, executive director of the Columbus Children’s Fund (CFF), another of the charities our LOVE HERO collaboration benefits.

The Columbus Children’s Foundation

The CCF focuses on accelerating access to affordable and effective gene therapy treatments for children with ultra-rare genetic diseases wherever they live in the world.

As Laura explained to me one of the most exciting advances in modern medicine—the modification of “The Good Adeno-Associated Virus” (AAV) to deliver therapeutic genes to cells or tissues to cure genetic disease at the source in children—I couldn’t help but wonder, “what does this virus look like?”

Based on my knowledge of what DNA structures look like, I asked Laura if she had seen this microscopic wonder, and if so, was it in fact beautiful? The resulting hours of conversation lead to our interpretation of “The Good Virus” as a print.

We have massively enlarged what scientists see under the microscope and recoloured it with our bright Differently Enabled colour palette to create artwork for our garments and accessories.

The Crystal Vision Foundation

It was Laura who then introduced me to blind film director Adam Morse. Actually Adam is more than that. He’s also an actor, writer, singer, co-founder of Outlyer and founder of his own charity, The Crystal Vision Foundation.

Through the Crystal Vision Foundation Adam aims to inspire a new wave of blind artists across all art forms to express themselves creatively and find professional pathways to make a living doing what they love.

Adam may be blind but he can see; he is a visionary. Working with him has given me insights into how we perceive sight, blindness and quite frankly each other. We laugh a lot at ourselves.

Together we have created two print collections: “Can You See” and “Day Vision.”

“The Can You See” collection is more than words and more than a question. “Can You See” is an open ended challenge about our perceptions, our behaviours, our attitudes and our values. Indeed “Can You See” everything? The mind reels.

Emmanuel and Adam

Adam has LHON, one of the rarest eye conditions in the world. As his optic nerves fail, they project pin points of light over whatever lies in his field of vision. It’s like multi-coloured sparkles on top of everything, even when his eyes are closed. In fact, the only time he doesn’t see this is when he is asleep.

To better understand how people with sight loss might see the world, we have created our interactive “Day Vision” configurable print collection. To “see the world through the eyes of people with LHON,” you can upload an image, and layer on top the LHON filter. You can then share your “Day Vision” on social media as well as have it printed on a choice of garments.

I look forward to seeing and sharing your co-creations. Be part of the conversation. Be part of the movement. Let’s celebrate our differences and embrace one another as equals. And do our best to protect our environment. Onward and Upward!

The Can You See Collection

What do you see when you see someone who is blind? Can you see what you see? What do you see when you see someone living with disability? Can you see beyond what you see? Start the conversation and be part of the on-going movement by asking everyone Can You See? 10% of the proceeds for product customised with these prints will be donated to The Crystal Vision Foundation.

The Day Vision Collection

To better understand how people with sight loss might see the world, “see the world through the eyes of people with LHON,” one of the rarest eye conditions in the world. 10% of the proceeds for product customised with these prints will be donated to The Crystal Vision Foundation.

The Good Virus

The Good Virus print designs are based on images of the Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) which can be modified to deliver therapeutic genes to cells or tissues to address genetic disease at the source. This is one of the most exciting advances in modern medicine. 10% of the proceeds for product customised with these prints will be donated to The Columbus Children’s Fund.

The Kaftan

The Kaftan is genderless and voluminous and available in 3 lengths. Midi and Mini are proportionately slightly slimmer. The V-neck makes it easy to put on and take off. Synch with a belt for less volume. There are no fasteners on this style.

The Scarf

Our genderless crinkle bark scarf is a generous two metres long by one half metre wide. Roll it up around your neck, or wrap it across your shoulders. Travels well.
